On 29 June after six months of intensive learning, 35 students were awarded their VLB Diploma as Certified Brewmasters. This diploma is not only recognized internationally as an important certificate of proficiency for professional brewers. It is also frequently used by the recipient as a springboard for advancing their career in the brewing industry.

In January, the students from 21 nations from Europe, Asia, North and South America as well as Africa started their brewing education at the VLB Berlin. An ambitious program awaited them: it dealt with the raw materials for brewing, the individual steps in the brewing process through to packaging and quality control. Practical work in the laboratories conveyed the latest knowledge. After their final exams, the students went on an excursion. From 25 to 28 June, several companies from the brewing and beverage industries, as well as their suppliers, allowed insights into the daily running of the company.  On 29 June, the day after returning to Berlin, the VLB Managing Director Dr. Josef Fontaine presented the hard-earned certificates.

The next Certified Brewmaster Course is scheduled from 7 January to 28 June 2019. An early booking is highly recommended!
