Brewing Excellence: VLB Craft Brewing Course for India – Successful course in Bangalore

From 27 to 31 January 2025, the ‘Brewing Excellence: VLB Craft Brewing Course for India’ took place in Bangalore, where 17 participants from all over India received intensive training in theory and practice.

Under the direction of Jan Biering and Gayatri Mehta (both from VLB Berlin), 17 participants from all over India took part in the five-day training course. The course, which appealed to craft brewers, beer lovers and enthusiasts alike, provided comprehensive knowledge about the fundamentals of craft and micro brewing.

Venues such as the ‘Palms-Beer & Kitchen’ for the lectures and the ‘Indian Beer House’ for the practical brewing exercises provided the perfect setting. The participants learned everything about raw materials such as water, malt, hops and yeast, as well as the brewing process, yeast management, fermentation and hygiene. Sensory evaluation and quality control were also on the programme.

The intensive training offered a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises that allowed participants to follow their own brewing processes through to the final quality control. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and due to popular demand, the course is expected to be repeated in November 2025.
