We are not only at home in Berlin, no - our staff is also present on-site when the international industry meets. This spring, VLB experts attended at three international conferences in the USA, Scotland and the Czech Republic.
Craft Brewers Conference, Nashville, USA
The Craft Brewers Conference in the U.S. has been a fixture on VLB's calendar for nearly 20 years. This May, we were represented with a booth in the BrewExpo and a presentation in the conference program. Roberto Biurrun, Jan Biering and Florian Schrickel were on site. In addition, some alumni met at the VLB international Alumni Gathering held at New Heights Brewing Co. in Nashville. Furthermore, the head of our sensory team, Patricia Diniz Fischer was on the tasting team of the World Beer Cup this year, whose winners were also awarded at the Craft Brewers Conference.

Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference, Edinburgh, Scottland
Under the “IfGB” label, VLB has also been active in the field of advanced training and analysis for the spirit industry for 20 years. Therefore, a visit to the Worlwide Distilled Spirits Conference, which took place from May 9 to 11 in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a must. Among the 500 participants were our two spirits experts Wiebke Künnemann and Christopher Bergtholdt. Catching up with professional long term relations and building new contacts globally were their main focus.

Brewers of Europe Forum, Prague, Czech Republic
At the Brewers of Europe Forum, which was held this year - without an accompanying EBC Congress - from May 21 to 23, 2023 in Prague, Czech Republic, VLB was competently represented by Florian Schrickel. He gave a presentation on the sustainable use of hops in dry hopping and moderated a session on the Norwegian Kveik yeast.
Carnivale Brettanomyces, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Our research associate from the VLB Research Institute for Biotechnology and Water, Gayatri Metha, gave a well-noticed presentation about water chemistry and kombucha at the symposium Carnivale Brettanomyces, 15-18 June, Amsterdam.
